Media

Communication is the basis for everything we do in Bible translation and language development. As all of the linguistic communities we serve access information and communicate with one another using an increasing number of media platforms, iDELTA is pleased to offer a Media specialization track. Students will not only acquire hands-on production skills ranging from audio and radio production to video production and film making, they will also learn to assess and plan effective media strategies, build apps and websites, and learn how to dub biblical films. Additional modules such as using social media effectively, research in church and ministry as well as a number of shared modules such as sociolinguistics or language development ensure our media track students get a solid understanding of how different domains of language work come together and how media can be used to increase the impact of each. As you can see, the audiovisual production skills covered in this course go far beyond the traditional scripture recording and app building competencies. Rather, we seek to empower organizations and individuals wishing to make a serious commitment to reaching communities in accordance with their communication preferences and habits, with an emphasis on creating content on local issues in local languages, using highly popular entertainment-education formats such as radio drama, documentaries or music videos.
